Crematory History
Meadowlawn Crematory and American Mortuary has been continuously serving the San Antonio community since 1963. Mary and Craig Cates are the second generation to serve this community. The Crematory was established and first provided services in 1991 and is now the second largest crematory in the state of Texas. In April 2004, the Cates family made the decision to to expand their facilities and offer their experience in crematory services to your family and beloved pets.
The Crematory has two separate buildings; one houses the human crematories and the other, the pet crematories. For your peace of mind and security, video cameras record operations in each building and video records are available to you. The crematory has six licensed, certified crematory operators on staff. Master crematory operator, Edward Armstrong, has performed over 10,000 human cremation and will be supervising your pet's services.
Crematory Services
Private cremations are available for your beloved pet. We also offer cremation caskets for your pet, should you desire a service prior to cremation. A waterside service provides a beautiful setting for your pet's final tribute.
Private cremations: your pet's ashes will be returned to you in a ceremonial urn.
- Small Pets (less than 25 pounds): $ 85.00
- Medium pets (25 - 50 pounds): $ 100.00
- Large (51 - 100 pounds): $ 150.00
- Large (101 - 125 pounds): $ 200.00
- Large (over 126 pounds): $ 225.00
Communal Cremation
Communal Cremation is presented as an alternative for your pet and may provide you with a more affordable option.
The cost of a communal cremation is $55.00 for small pets (1 - 50 pounds). For larger pets (51 + pounds), the cost is $110.00. Your pet's ashes will then be scattered by our waterside.
Crematory Location
All Paws Great and Small Pet Crematory is located at 5611 E. Houston Street in east San Antonio, one block outside of Loop 410. The SBC Center is in the 3000 Block of E. Houston. To find us, from the SBC Center, driving east three miles, the crematory is located inside Meadowlawn Crematory and American Mortuary. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, or by appointment on the weekends. Please call 662-4851 for information.
